Article marketing is undoubtedly one of the best internet marketing strategy. It can be utilize for various purposes such as direct product campaign or as a tool for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes.

I will discuss about article marketing using ezinearticles.com to post our articles. Ezine Articles (EzineArticles.com) is the most respected articles directory, it have a very high page rank, and Google really love Ezine Articles, therefore it is very common to see articles on the ezine articles listed on the first page of Google search engine.

You have to register to become a member of Ezine Articles, it’s free, and you can have several accounts and several pen name. Use ezine articles wisely because your articles will be reviewed by real people on ezine articles, you have to follow their guide lines and rules such as maximum keywords density 1%, no links or advertising links and materials inside the article body etc. You don’t have to be worry about all of this, because it’s really easy to follow, and they also provide guide on this matter.

The things that you need before you start your article marketing campaign :

1. Domain and Web Hosting :

Ezine articles do not allow affiliate link even in the resource box, therefore you have to own your hosting and domain. It’s very recommended to have your own hosting and domain, this will also very important and needed for your further more advance internet marketing activities, I do not recommend free hosting it will give you headache instead of profits.

Because ezine articles do not allow affiliate link in your articles and resource box, you have to buy domain for each affiliate product that you sell, it’s quite cheap, I recommend .info domain from godaddy (the price is about mor or less $1 for each domain). After you have your own domain for your product, you can place merchants website inside it (really easy), I will provide the script to do this job, it’s simple but very effective. Therefore if someone visit YOURDOMAIN.info for specific product, they will be presented with the merchants site with our affiliate link automatically embed.

2. Niches and Keywords Research :

You have to choose which niche product you want to sell (I have wrote the short guidelines about this on my previous post/part 1), and do the keywords research for that particular niche. To do the proper and effective keywords research, just follow the guidelines on my free e-book “Keywords Research Bible”, you can download that free e book.

After you have your keywords lists, you are ready to get visitors to your articles and start getting the comission (Money).

Anyway, you can laugh at me, even though those gurus call this “dumb strategy”, but in fact my first 12 sales within 1 month on affiliate marketing is by using this dumb strategy alone (well, 12 sales is not much, I got only a bit more than $400, but what the heck …. it’s free money after all).
2. The More advance purpose is list building, we can send our visitors to our landing pages instead of direct merchant’s sales pages, then by offering some free useful stuff (this have to be useful, not bunch of free garbages), we can build our own list before our visitors go to the merchant’s sales pages.
3. Next advance purpose is to promote your blog or website by providing it with high quality backlinks through our own articles (more advance application is by building a “link-wheel”, I will discuss about this later).
4. Related to the third purpose above, this article marketing can also be utilized to optimize our websites or blogs.

OK, let’s proceed with the first purpose – direct affiliate marketing program

If you want to get easy money, even though it will takes sometimes, this is the easiest way.

Next step, how to choose a product and how to promote it using this “dumb strategy”? I will not go to all details, because product selection is also a bit “wide” area  (I will make a post about this in the future),  instead I listed 3 criterias I’ve been using :

• I always choose products with gravity higher than 25 (usually not higher than 200, but this upper limit is pretty loose, sometimes I can go with a product with gravity much higher than 200). What is gravity? don’t even bother about it for now, otherwise, this post will be too long
• I rarely choose internet marketing product to promote, why? … more on this later I mostly choose health, parenting, relationship etc.
• I always picked products with good looking sales pages, therefore I have greater chance to sell

Ok, for now, those 3 criteria is enough. Actually you better do some small research before the product selection I’ve described above.

OK, the next step is to promote your product …. HOw? …. using Article Marketing posted on Prominent Article directories !

You may ask, why article directories? because if you post your article on prominent article directories such as EzineArticles, your article will have much and much greater chance of being “visible” instead of posting on your newly built blog, therefore visitors are almost “guaranteed” (in EzineArticles, you can almost instantly get 5 to 30 visitors right after your article been published) …… What is the reason behind this? • High Commission : In clickbank, the normal commission is around 50% up to 75% or more per sales, therefore if you sell a product at $50, you will receive commission around $25 to $35.
• Tiered Commission : Some affiliate products have tiered commission structure, it means that beside selling the product by yourself, you also can recruit your own sales team and credited some percentage of commissions when each of your team sell the product.
• Recurring Commission : This commission scheme will pay you each time the buyers make payment, for example, if you sell a paid membership affiliate programs (usually monthly payment), you will get commission as long as your buyers keep their membership. This scheme usually pay less percentage but youwill receive perpetual income for months or years.
• Support from the Merchant : You have to make sure that your merchant or product owner provide decent or excellent support, therefore your refund rate will very low.

You Have Joined Affiliate Program – What’s Next ?

As I mentioned previously, your duty is to generate traffic to the product’s sales page. There are two main traffics that you can generate, free traffic and paid traffic.

Free Traffic :

• Article Marketing : this is very powerful strategy to generate free highly targeted traffic. Article marketing can be executed in several ways, and you don’t have to worry, it’s not hard to do (I will discuss more detail and indepth on article marketing later). The basic scheme is you write articles related to your affiliate product, post the articles on article directory site that have high page rank and with specific strategy, your articles will have greater chance to appear on google search engine first page. I highly recommend you to post your articles at Ezine Articles (Ezinearticles.com). It is true that it take sometimes for your articles to get approval, but once your articles published, you will see traffic flows almost instantly. Inside your articles (or bio box for ezinearticles) you will insert your link, it can be your affiliate link (notes : ezinearticles do not allow affiliate links, but we can get through this easily, I will show you how to do it), or for more advance marketer, it can be their landing pages (don’t be scared with “advance” terms, actually it really easy to do)
• Opt-in List – this is a list of subscribers that you have built through advertising or some other form of promotion. Examples are joint ventures where you give away something such as an ebook, software program and ecourse to get people to join your list. The major advantage of having your own list is that you now have a targeted group to send information about items that probably will be of interest to them for their consideration. Best of all, it’s virtually free advertising. This opt-in list can be generated through article marketing that directed to your landing pages which have opt-in form in it.

Paid Traffic :

• Ezines : you can advertise your products on ezine related to your specific product, this can generate high targeted traffic almost instantly. There are three types of ezines ads, Classified ads (standard 5 line text ad), Top Sponsor Ads (10-20 lines with your affiliate link located near the top of the page) and Solo ads (this ad is sent to the ezine’s entire subscriber list in an email).
